The end of a very HARD Race

Second round of the German Cross Country Championship was held last weekend. (Graham Birkett took his 300 KTM to a seventh place in the expert class collecting twenty points to add to his 25 he won in the first round.)

 

With a Le Mans start he was leading on the first lap and for 25 mins. He pulled away from the pack of 110 Experts. When trying to pass a back marker who suddenly changed line knocking him off. On picking the KTM up he discovered the clutch master cylinder had been smashed making the clutch completely useless. Slowly going back to the pits he suddenly thought of The Crowthorne Motto, so started off after the pack. With no clutch and having to stop every lap for the checkpoint and also stopping for fuel, he clawed his way back up to 7th place and just 4 mins behind the leader.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The crowd went wild for they to could see the clutch lever hanging down. When finishing the race he said it had been the hardest ride in his whole life, and would not like to do it again.
