Bill Brown Trophy Trial

Now here was a nice old gentleman. Bill was a Liberal councillor for Crowthorne, who I approached asking him if he could find us some land which we could ride trials on. Bill said he would try.

Unfortunately all the council said was "too much noise". So Bill got a noise meter reader to check it out, well they did the test, 50 meters from the bikes which were all driving around, the meter did not move.

Next I had to give a lecture at Bill's house for the council members, which I did and included a slide show. They were very impressed, then I showed them a TY 80 (remember C & D 's were all on TY 80's ) then my son Graham aged 8yrs, rode his TY80 on Bill's lawn going around a dustbin. They were amazed, so much control (makes you think eh!!) still no good.

Then one day talking to Bill, I was a bit down and despondent when suddenly Bill thumped me on the shoulder and said "keep going boy", something will turn up.

Well it did, we started to find land but not from the council.

It was agreed later at committee that Bill who had no idea about motorbikes, but was all for fun with Mum and Dad with their children should become our President.

He was really chuffed and kept in touch until his untimely death.
